Find Your Next Favorite Newsletter in Four Steps

I read a lot of newsletters. Part of it is research for Polyletter, part of it is that I just like the format. And the question I get asked most is the simplest one: which ones should I actually subscribe to?
Beyond the generic "what is the best newsletter" lists, there has to be something better. A tool that finds the newsletters that actually fit you and the way you read.

Topic is not why you stay
You subscribe to a newsletter because of a topic. You stay because of a voice.
Think about the two finance newsletters you have opinions on: the one you open first and the one you muted. They can cover the exact same news on the exact same morning. The difference is tone, length, how much the writer gets out of their own way. A list that matches you on "finance" cannot see any of that. It hands you both and wishes you luck.
That gap is the whole reason the Finder exists.
Four steps to a better recommendation
Here is what it actually asks you:
- Pick up to three topics you care about. Normal enough.
- Tell it how long a read you want, a quick skim or something you sit with.
- Instead of asking what kind of writing you like, it shows you a few short passages and asks which one you would keep reading. You reveal your taste by choosing, not by describing it. People are bad at explaining the writing they enjoy and very good at recognizing it the second they see it.
- Plain text or something richer, images and all.
Then it gives you three matches, each with a score for how well it fits and a line or two on why it landed there. Not feeling them? The button for fresh picks does not just flip to the next three on the list. A rejected set nudges your profile, so the next round differs in character, not only in order. Turn down the polished corporate one and it pushes you toward the scrappy personal one, not toward its twin.
